A newly established company in the United States named Lytro promises to revolutionize the photography industry and the way we take pictures. The developer is working on a camera (which will launch later this year), which will allow the user to focus images after they were seized, informs AllThingsD.
The secret behind this camera is that has a new type of sensor, which gathers much more information about the light entering the camera than the sensors found on any other digital cameras.
Instead of recording a finite amount of information about light in photography, like current sensors, the Lytro device records entire “light field”, consisting of all rays of light in a frame. This includes color intensity and direction of light rays. With this large amount of data, the focus of a photo can be adjusted using a computer in the same way we use Photoshop to adjust brightness or contrast.
This awesome sensor also allows taking photos in quite low light conditions without the need for its flash option. In addition, the new equipment will make 3D photos with a single lens, and the effect of depth can be seen without special glasses.
According to the founder and CEO of Lytro, the first camera of the company “will be a product with a competitive price that fits your pocket”, the camera will be available before the end of the year.
